Post Your Pedigree

This page allows anyone researching their Spearin(g) ancestry to post their own pedigree in the Comments section below. It is intended for use by absolutely anyone including those who have taken a Y-DNA test, a mitochondrial DNA test, an autosomal DNA test (i.e. Family Finder), or no DNA test. If you later take a DNA test, you can add this as a "Reply" to your original "Comment".

Each pedigree goes back to the earliest known Spearin(g) ancestor in the researcher's family tree. This may either be a male or a female Spearin. This information will help collaboration between the different Spearin researchers. If you wish to contact any of the researchers below, simply post a "Reply" to their original "Comment", or find them in our Facebook group, or send me an email and I will pass on your message to them.

To include your own Spearin pedigree, simply leave the details as a Comment below. Alternatively, email it to me and I will publish it for you. Please use the following format:
  1. Patrick SPIERIN b c1802, Ballingarry, Limerick; d 1872 Dublin city, m 1828 Mary MORGAN, Co. Tipperary
  2. Edward Joseph SPIERIN b 1835 Peake, Boherlahan, Co. Tipperary; d 1902, Dublin city; m Mary Agnes Ryan 1866
  3. Elizabeth (Lizzie) SPEARIN, etc ... (birth, marriage, death year & place)
  4. Elizabeth (Lily) O'CARROLL b 1903 … as above, but for privacy reasons, do not include dates for a) births <100 years ago, b) marriages <75 years ago, or c) deaths <50 years ago
  5. MHG (father) ... use initials (plus relationship to test-taker in brackets)
  6. MJG-4037 (test-taker) ... use initials and last 4 numbers of kit number
  7. any other descendants who have taken a DNA test (their initials & last 4 digits)
Researcher: (insert your initials - and the last 4 numbers of your DNA kit number, if you have one)
My email address: (use AT instead of @)
Link to my online tree: www.xxxxx.com
Family Identification Number: (if known. You may be able to find it here.)

The following are recommended:
  • birth location is more important than birth date
  • if you are unsure about a year of birth, put a c in front of it (e.g. c1802 .. c means "circa" which is Latin for "about")
  • if you are unsure about a place of birth, put a question mark after it (e.g. Limerick?)
  • no birth dates should be included if less than 100 years ago, no marriage dates if less than 75 years ago, & no death dates if less then 50 years ago
  • for privacy & security, no living people should be included (use initials instead)
  • for privacy & security, only the last 4 digits of your kit number should be included
  • as this is a public forum, email addresses should have the @ sign removed and replaced with AT (this helps reduce the risk of spam)
